The people of the Gourara region are the keepers of the mystical Ahellil and its millennial polyphonic chants of the Sahara.
How will they perceive electronic music producers coming to meet them and seeking to bring both universes together?
In the « Encounters » project, we look at the link that tradition and modernity have.
We have witnessed the unique and unprecedented encounter of men and their music coming from seemingly different worlds. We were in awe as Djs and Ahellil musicians offered us a performance in a landscape completely out of time.
The first episode of “Encounters” took place in Timimoun where two Producers 3ABDELKADER and DARK MATE encounter the “Ahellil de Baba” and Ba Saoud.
Encounters EP 2
Djanet
An encounter between ancestral Tuareg music and electronic music.
Represented by IDRISS D and REBOOT, electronic music has landed in a desert area to build a new Time Gate.
Djanet, an oasis in the middle of the Sahara, is the main city in the south-east of Algeria, and the city of the Mouhaghs (Tuaregs or free man in Tamasheq). This place was the subject of a new Time Gate, a gate which reflects the rhythms and tunes of the dunes and rocks, telling stories from thousands of years of existence.
This experience was reelased in collaboration with ALPHA TANGO, NOMADDICT and TEMET TRAVEL.
